My Portfolio
My portfolio is an amalgamation of my client and personal work experience. This collection only represents approximately 3 years of my most recent work.
Client Work
Crabby Joes
My goal on this project was to develop a flash banner advertisement that would feature all of the restaurants Specials for almost everyday of the week. This task was difficult at first based on the file size limit that are set in place with our online advertisement distributor. I was able to get around it by loading the flash file into a loader with action script. This allowed us to be able to make changes to the banner advertisement when needed. I was also asked to generate a simple promo page outlining the specials again, as well as displaying a 5 dollar coupon to printed out for the user to use. Overall I feel the project went quite well and it got me a chance to design and prone my creative skills once more.

Blue Jackets at School
Paton Publishing a company that is owned by Metroland (the company that owns The Mississauga News) contacted us for some help on developing a CMS system for one of their client sites that was due within a month. Because of the time available to us we had no choice but to go with an Open Source CMS system, but we needed one that was flexible for us to customize and provide some required by complex features. We chose that Drupal was the CMS of choice. The system was build and fully customized, adding many of our own modules, as well modifying the core just so that it could pass on some procedures that the system was not build to do. The design of the site besides tweaks here and there for development reason was created by Monica Low. The Development work was all lead by myself in this process, working directly hand in hand with Paton Publishing’s needs.
Sk8rLife.com
A skating site created for the event Gravity Wear & Board Sports is holding at the Mississauga Waterfront Festival on June 16th 2007. It was also created to try and generate interest in the younger crowd in the city of Mississauga. I was the only person working on this project, created all artistic design elements, as well as the front-end and back-end functionality of the site, including database implementation and design.
Mississauga Movies
A quick implementation of Movie Showtimes at theaters within the Greater Toronto Area for the current day. Movie information and showtimes are just 3 clicks away!
Mississauga News Jobs
A online jobs search page David Bordin and I created for the Mississauga News Homepage, allowing a much easier and friendly searchable version than what our old classifieds section could provide. David worked on development for this project and I help out on the code here and there where I could. Most of my attention on this project was focused on design, and implementation of the design into the code, keeping CSS standards for all browsers.
Franks Red Hot Gallery Updates
While working at dThree Inc. I was responsible for making all updates to Frank's RedHot Gallery. All gallery images and folders are organized through a XML file. It was my job to make sure all images were properly resized, for both large and thumbnail sized images, as well as update the primary XML file for gallery folder and listings.
Stella Artois Website Maintenance
As the sole developer of the Stella Artois global website, I was in charge of using this framework to make client requested changes to pages, content, and referral links. The site is coded in a Java styled framework in Actionscript 2.0. It loads all content from XML files, and implementes the IntelliMaxx Tracking system provided by dThree.
Ken Dryden Homepage
Ken Dryden wanted a new look for his site. The site, running on Joomla, had to integrate a new front page design created at dThree. I converted the design over to XHTML and made sure all elements were properly format in CSS for successful template integration. Because of time restraints I had to reformat the code in the CMS to link to the homepage outside of the system. I don't normally like modifying code of an existing system but in this case I had to look the other way, as a developer, to achieve the required deadline.
I also developed the video player applet as well as the submit a video form pop-up for the page.
M&M Meat Shops Product Listings
dThree was selected to make modifications to M&M Meat Shops website. The site was created by a company other than dThree, and was coded in ASP. It was my job to learn how the products and other misc. pages were developed to make changes so that the staff at M&M Meat Shops could process their own updates in house. I helped to create an easy to use "featured product" update system, as well as revamped all product category pages. I also helped in implementing a backbone admin system to handle the organization of all M&M Meat Shops stores.
Beer.com Dynamic Sitemap XML
My first job at dThree was to create a google sitemap file for one of their in-house websites, Beer.com. The CMS system running the site was Fatwire, and the page I had to develop required Java with some Fatwire functions.
CIP Magazine Advertisement
While I was working for Canadian Industrial Publishing I had the chance to take on some magazine advertisement design work for some of our other networked sites like CIP Classifieds . This was one of the advertisements that was included in the October 2005 Edition of Canadian Industrial Machinery (pg. 65).
AFM Canada
AFM Canada is one of the largest distributors of high quality fabricating equipment from TRUMPF, Flow Waterjet, RAS, Pacific, and others.
This was one of the first sites that I had to work on and design while working at Canadian Industrial Publishing. The site includes a video streaming introduction on each page. The streaming was done by including it into the flash animations on the website. The products were organized in a search engine fashion to help with Search Engine Optimization (SEO).
